STUDIO FACILITIES: 4/5
The moment I heard that there was a rooftop fitness studio in West Hollywood offering HIIT classes I was immediately SOLD! Speedplay is on the penthouse floor of a building with an outdoor turf and incredible views. The moment we walked out of the elevators I was in love with the space. When the weather is warm enough they have part of their workout outside, but the day we were there they kept it all inside.
The workout started with a few minutes of dynamic stretching and then we separated into two groups, one starting on the Woodway curve treadmill doing intervals and the other doing a 9 minute circuit of 5 exercises (1 min per exercise).
I did not feel like the given exercises were very challenging and there was no extra push through the music choice or the instructor. However, I did enjoy the time on the Woodway curve treadmill as it was my first time trying it. It is a non-motorized treadmill meaning you have total control of the speed you are going based on your strides – it was perfect for this class. After 9 minutes of the treadmill and circuit we switched to 9 minutes on the rower and another circuit of 5 different exercises. Again, I felt the same about the circuit and the rowing portion was based on distance followed by 10 tricep dips after each distance was reached.
Overall, my friends and I enjoyed the class but all agreed that it was okay. The studio space is awesome and regardless that is definitely worth checking out. I always like to mention that you may get a different experience with other instructors. In terms of facilities they have lockers and two single bathrooms, one with a shower. Speedplay is also on ClassPass.
