After first trying Barry’s Bootcamp in South Beach I really wanted to come to the OG (original) location which is in West Hollywood. The day I was there it was butt and leg day – for those of you who have never been, all their classes are the same focus for the entire day which is awesome for people who go a few times throughout the week.
All classes are set up the same way, it is all HIIT with a rotation from treadmill to floor work. You also have the option to do double floor and opt out of doing the treadmill which is what I chose. There are two 15 minute sessions on the treadmill and two on the floor. On the treadmill it is all interval work and the instructor calls out queues for what your approx. speed should be at.
On the floor they call out the exercises as you go, it is not individually counted or timed. For the first portion most of the exercises were lunge, squat and deadlift variations and for the second part it was all band work on the bench which really BURNED! (especially after doing double floor). I would not suggest this type of workout for a beginner.
To be honest, I enjoyed my workout at the South Beach location better solely on the fact that the instructor was a lot more involved and motivating. I say time after time that instructors can make ALL the difference in a class and can really make or break the experience for the guest at that gym. Like all other locations they have an inhouse smoothie bar where you can pre order before class and have it waiting for when you are finished. They have full service change room with private bathrooms and showers as well.
