  • 31 Ways to Gift your Mind + Body

    Kelsey Hergott |

I’m a strong believer that in order to best serve those around us and show up as the best version of ourselves every single day, we have to put ourselves first. Whether that means incorporating some meditating in your mornings, hitting up a spa every now and then, or listing out what you’re grateful for at the end of each day, focusing on your own self-care will work wonders for you (and those around you) in the long run. So whatever self-love looks like for you, here’s a list of 31 days and ways you can incorporate it into one of the busiest months of the year. I guarantee taking the time to do so will allow you to breeze through December feeling stronger, bolder, and more present wherever your schedule takes you this holiday season.

  • ‘Tis The Season for SAD

    Kelsey Hergott |

The colder weather brings a plethora of unpleasantries with it: dry skin, chapped lips, a goodbye to cute sundresses, and that old familiar friend, Seasonal Affective Disorder. Seasonal Affective Disorder might be the reason you’re taking the colder months harder than usual. It’s completely normal to feel a little down when the sunshine starts to disappear earlier and earlier, but if you routinely find yourself on the couch rewatching Gilmore Girls for the umpteenth time, then you might be suffering from the appropriately named SAD.

  • Peeling Back The Pandemic Feels

    Kelsey Hergott |

Though times are still a bit “unprecedented” (who would’ve ever thought we’d be hearing that word as much as we do today), the world is certainly starting to find its footing back into normalcy. Sure, it feels so refreshing to be able to go places and see people and hug and laugh together again. But that refreshing feeling doesn’t quite cover it all.

  • The top 5 ways to make your habits stick -- for good

    Kelsey Hergott |

September holds a certain type of nostalgia, doesn’t it? Whether you’re going back to school, sending your little ones off to the bus, or find your commute suddenly crowded with teens who are much cooler than you, there’s something about the September air that brings a sense of hustle and bustle back after the lazy, hazy days of summer.    That’s exactly why September is notoriously known as the number one time of the year when people find it tough to stick with their habits. When life has less priorities, you can always put yourself first. But when reality hits, and the…

  • How to keep hydrated this summer so you H2-GLOW!

    Kelsey Hergott |

Our bodies are made up of nearly 70% water, so naturally it’s important to maintain a certain level of hydration. Getting in your 10-11 cups of H20 each day is one of the best ways to flush your body of its toxins, keep you feeling energized, reduce hangovers, improve your physical performance, aid in weight loss, keep your skin glowing, and the list just goes on…

  • How to Keep Your Sanity On Social

    Kelsey Hergott |

Be honest, how many hours a day do you spend mindlessly scrolling through some type of social media? Learning the new TikTok dance (“learning” is a loose term here), browsing DeuxMoi for any celeb sightings near you, taking in how cool 15 year olds look today in comparison to what 15 year old you looked like (truly triggering)... The list goes on and one question remains: is it really so “mindless”?

  • Bring your Workout Outdoors!

    Kelsey Hergott |

It’s uncharacteristically mild, sunny and bright for the first few months of the year in Canada and bringing your workout outside to experience it can provide lots of different health benefits for your mental and overall well-being. I once read a study that the primary activity that the most people partake in outside is dog walking. However, there are so many great benefits for humans outside too!

  • How to Reset your Motivation

    Kelsey Hergott |

March is that cold, grey, awkward in-between winter and spring month that makes us want to hibernate on the couch until spring has sprung with the Uber Eats delivery guy as our main source of human contact. It’s a very easy time to break healthy routines and slump back into less positive, less productive and less happy versions of ourselves

    Kelsey Hergott |

If you have feelings of being frenzied, stressed, bored or overwhelmed, it’s time to check in on how you’ve been treating yourself. We often attribute these feelings to work, family and other external sources. However, by assessing the inner situation, there’s a chance you might find that you're somewhat responsible for these feelings because you’ve been neglecting yourself.

  • How to Up Your 2021 Mental Health Game

    Kelsey Hergott |

We typically talk of health and wellness in terms of the physical self. Conversations around weight loss or improved appearance and confidence are the norm. However, your body is only one part of a three part series that makes up you. Mental and spiritual health complete the trilogy.

  • How to Have a Healthy Holiday

    Kelsey Hergott |

Staying healthy during the holidays is a struggle, even normal at times. Right now, everyone's a little confused about ever-changing COVID-19 regulations or what applies to them and what doesn’t. What seems appropriate in Toronto isn’t the same as Windsor, Barrie, Sudbury or Vancouver. What we all have in common is the desire to be with our loved ones.

    Kelsey Hergott |

Over the last ten years or so, many total misconceptions and flat out nonsense about strength and resistance training have been debunked, especially bad information that targets women. As a result, more women participate than ever. Yet, still lots of women still consider cardio a superior form of exercise or simply don’t make strength training part of their regular routine.

  • Fall Back into your Fitness Routine

    Kelsey Hergott |

Summer is coming to an end. Most of us probably can’t call it the best summer ever, however, the opportunity to return to beaches, cottages and patios was one we, as a collective city, were very grateful to have. We’re entering fall 2020, which if this year has taught us anything, anything can and will happen. A strong and healthy mind, body and soul is essential to thriving with whatever this year has to throw at us.

  • Top Toronto Outdoor Workout Spots

    Kelsey Hergott |

With gyms, fitness centres and studios still closed due to COVID-19, being able to take our fitness outside and enjoy the beautiful weather has, for many of us, been a key outlet for maintaining good mental health and also our sole means of taking part in physical activities. However, in a congested city like Toronto, where many of us don’t have outdoor spaces, it can feel like there are very few places to get a good workout in. As a result, I’ve noticed a huge increase in people running on busy main streets. I’ve also noticed they have to go about their workouts dealing with challenges like having to stop at stop lights and signs, dodge pedestrians, and now avoid patios and lineups that spill onto the sidewalk, all while trying to practice physical distancing

  • How to Manage Social Distancing

    Kelsey Hergott |

It’s officially (spring) quarantine. Everything fun and non-essential is closed or suspended indefinitely and social events are a big no-go because it’s vital to everybody that we work together to limit the spread of CoVid-19 and get the country back on track.    The public health practice of social distancing helps limit transmission of communicable diseases and it’s the recommended course of action by governments across the world. Some people don’t feel it necessary and continue life as usual without any regard to the art and science of making sure Canada’s curve is flat as possible. The Washington Post created four really cool…
